No matter where you are in your career trajectory, you probably don’t audition enough. It’s fine to get behind the camera and rehearse scenes but the only way to grow and succeed as an actor is to garner audition and on set experience.
Socratis will take you through the audition process as it exists in both local and international casting rooms. He will review your test, focus those dreaded nerves and give you an intimate insight into what casting directors are ultimately looking for – you! Then he'll get you to do it all again as practice might make perfect, but experience is paramount.
Socratis will provide the scripts.
Classes will be capped at 10 actors and run for 2 hours.
Five Week Period: $250 plus GST ($50 per class) (Paid In Advance)
About Socratis Otto
Socratis has carved an impressive career working both here and abroad, successfully avoiding the typecast box. His roles continue to push boundaries and defy expectations, as evidenced by his current portrayal of transgender inmate Maxine Conway in WENTWORTH.
Socratis’ career started before he’d even graduated. He was one of the first NIDA students to perform in an STC show FIREFACE, in his graduating year and followed it up with SALT & DON JUAN, in the same year. He has taught actors across the globe, lived in 15 countries, trained and worked with giants, and remains deeply inspired by the workings and possibilities of the industry. He also trains like an athlete, makes a supreme spiced cocktail, and likes to read three books at once.
Training: BA Dramatic Art NIDA, Hons BA Creative Writing Literature & Drama Studies Macquarie Uni.

- Richard Roxburgh, AWARD WINNING AUSTRALIAN ACTOR
I had seen his work previously on both screen and stage and was immediately drawn to him as an actor. His work resonated with a mastery that is utterly compelling.
I was lucky enough to work with Socratis for 3 seasons on Wentworth. The commitment and work ethic he brought to the set was infectious.
His attention to character detail was exemplary. It is a treat to work with others in a creative realm that are open to exploration and play and Socratis completely embraces this way of working.
