Cobbstar is very excited to have been awarded the City of Sydney Cultural Grant for occupancy of the former Metro Screen space in November 2016. We are home to a diverse, yet like minded group of content creators, and a growing hub for acting classes, voice classes, writing and film business workshops and more.
BRIAN COBB - Creative Producer
Graduating from the AFTRS Producing and Screen Business course in 2011, Brian had two short films selected as part of the Cannes Film Festival's 'Cinemas Des Antipodes’ in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
In 2013, SPA chose Brian for their 'Ones To Watch' program and in December 2014 Screen Australia chose Brian in their early talent identification program, ‘Enterprise People’.
Brian produces THE HORIZON digital series. This record series has amassed over 50 million views globally and has been nominated and won many festival awards for acting, writing, directing and also the coveted award for Best Series.
In July 2015, Screen Australia granted Brian funds to produce a one-hour drama TV special. HORIZON, based on the digital series, attracted the signature of award winning film writer/ director Stephan Elliott, the man behind iconic film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
In January 2016, Brian produced his first feature film titled INDIGO LAKE which had its theatrical release in April 2017.
In 2017, MIP TV chose PATRICIA MOORE as one of six projects globally to pitch in the digital series forum. This was closely followed by DREAM CHANNEL VR being chosen by the Cannes Film Festivals’ NEXT VR THEATRE which premiered in May.
ALEX FLOWER - Head of Production
With more than 20 years experience in both scripted and un-scripted television production, Alex has a wide range of skills on a variety of formats including Drama, Documentary, Reality, Comedy, Lifestyle, and Children’s programming.
Starting out in short-form television commercials and music videos, Alex quickly moved into long-form, working her way through various departments including Scripts, Casting, Assistant Directing, Production Management and Producing.
During her career Alex has worked for a number of major production companies and Networks including Beyond Productions, Cordell Jigsaw, Cornerbox, WTFN Entertainment; Networks Seven, Nine, Ten and Foxtel. Credits include All Saints, Police Under Fire, Surf Patrol, Beyond Tomorrow, and Bride & Prejudice for the Seven Network, Water Rats for the Nine Network plus The Living Room and The Ronnie Johns Half Hour for Network Ten.
Notable positions include Network Producer at Foxtel with a focus on the development, commissioning and production of local content for the Factual, Lifestyle, Comedy and General Entertainment genres.
With a wealth of experience in both production and the creative process, Alex is able to oversee a production of any scale from concept through to delivery.
JONNY PETERS - Creative Director
Jonny is a VR / AR Producer and Director. He has been producing interactive drama formats and platforms for over 15 years in Sydney, London, Los Angeles, Barcelona and Bangkok.
Initially qualifying with a Bachelor of Economics, Jonny then completed a Graduate Diploma in Directing at AFTRS, followed by a Masters in Transmedia & Virtual Worlds in 2011. Jonny has been at the forefront of innovative technology driven storytelling since 1998.
Jonny is currently working on two core VR projects, developing more and fostering new talent in this innovative medium. He is a leader in this unique format and is pioneering the shift towards narrative storytelling in VR.
His first key project, the Dream Channel, is a drama series where game meets film - a 'choose your own adventure' VR series that takes place inside a virtual world called 'The Dream Channel'. Audiences explore an augmented 'fantasy city' of Amsterdam and discover live action scenes in any order they choose.
The other is Myths & Legends VR, a Game of Thrones style VR series where audiences assume the role of intergalactic time travelers, re-visiting and uncovering the truth about myths and legends, and reporting back to a central trading post.
